An integral part of emergency planning is providing training to first responders and specialists who will be responsible for emergency response. ISSi employees are certified California Specialized Training Institute (CSTI) trainers in disaster preparedness. Our instructors use a comprehensive training curriculum with nearly 100 current course titles in terrorism awareness, prevention, and response; emergency management; disaster planning, mitigation, response and recovery; crisis communications; and hazardous materials/WMD preparedness and response. ISSi has developed targeted drills and practical exercises for law enforcement and fire personnel. ISSi has designed table top, functional, and full scale exercises for students.

ISSi has:

• Developed and participated in over 50 full scale hazardous materials incidences.
• Prepared tailored exercises for law enforcement and fire personnel.
• Certified instructors teaching classes in: First Responder Operations; Hazardous Materials Industrial Technician; Incidence Command; Spill Prevention and Countermeasures; and Regulatory Reporting and Awareness.
• Aided fire personnel in equipment and personal protective gear selection for hazardous materials responses.
• Realistic table top and full scale exercises including observation and critiques on response activities.
